Welly Wednesday

We have been observing changes in the environment.

We enjoyed a Spring walk.

We love being outside!

We have been using fruit and vegetables to create portraits in the style of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. They really made us smile!

We enjoyed a winter walk. Can the children tell you what we found?

Bonfire celebrations! The children worked together to collect sticks for a Bonfire. We enjoyed talking about the size and weight of the them! Who can find the heaviest? The lightest? longest? The shortest? We also enjoyed learning about Guy Fawkes. We ate our edible sparklers and sang Bonfire songs. Lots of wonderful memories made.

We shared the story of the "Leaf Man" and discussed signs of Autumn. We got into teams and collected natural objects. The children enjoyed making leaf pictures.

Lots of happy children!

The children have shown interest in animal homes as we have been discussing our own houses and homes this week. During Welly Wednesday, we read a book about the habitats of living things, including plants. We looked for different habitats. We discovered logs, webs, and even a byke. Can the children explain what a byke is?

We had a wonderful time during our first Welly Wednesday session in 1RL. In the wildlife garden, we talked about being "Ready, Respectful, and Safe." We then listened to a lovely story called "Tap the Magic Tree." We talked about the four seasons. We made our own Autumn trees after finding fallen leaves, sticks, apples and conker shells. As you can see, the children had a fantastic time. They worked together, helped each other and smiled all afternoon!
