Remember it is important to listen to your child read every day. Please choose a book from Oxford Owl - to find your class login please go to the Homework sub page.

Friday

Watch video clips on how to play common playground games such as the hopscotch rules YouTube clip . Follow the instructions carefully, picking out the key language including verbs and adverbs. Play ‘word pull’ by pulling out new  words, discussing  meaning linking to known vocabulary, before then returning to its original context.

If possible and you have a piece of chalk and some space in your home grounds, draw a hop scotch grid and play the game to reinforce the game, or play 'What's the Time Mr Wolf?' for the same purpose.

Thursday

Today we will begin our non fiction unit on instructions. To create interest tell your child Mrs Nunns has sent  email telling us that the playground games need updating. Because we are a Year 2 class she hopes we can help the younger children learn the games in their bubbles by writing instructions on how to play the games. The first task is to make a list of all the playground games. Discuss the games you know and play e.g. Hop scotch, What's the time Mr Wolf. Tig ,etc.

Watch a video on Discover Education Espresso/ Key Stage1/ English, Grammar and Punctuation- How to separate words in a list using comas.

After watching the video and discussing how the comma is used, ask your child to write a list of playground games using commas to separate the games in the list then draw some pictures of the games.
