Spring 2

The children were exploring the different bones in the body this week and looking and naming some of the key bones in their body such as: skull, spine, ribs and many others. From this, pupils were able to begin to draw their own skeletons using chalk and labelling key bones in the body. The children discussed what the three main jobs of the skeleton are and discovered that it was for support, protection and movement. The children then looked at the roles of individual bones and looked at their roles within the human body, they began to debate what they thought was the most important bone within the body.

This term in science we have been looking at Skeletons and movement. This children started this topic looking at the knowledge they already had of this. Thinking about the different muscles and bones in are body, how we move, what role does the skeleton have and is this the same for other animals.

The children became live model skeletons as they were asked to use post it notes to label each other with different bones and muscles to see if they could identify where each one was, before labelling them later on. The children also discuss other questions such as how does the skeleton protect us?How do other animals protect themself? This was to help prepare them for their upcoming topic.
