Spring 2

We closely observed seeds and bulbs.

We looked at the seeds in common fruit and vegetables. We predicted how many seeds were in each fruit.

We are growing cress seeds to see where, and what conditions, the cress will grow the best.

We were surprised to see roots and shoots starting to grow on day two.

We loved our cream cheese and cress sandwiches. We think the cress tasted even better because we grew it!
We have also made cress seed packets so that we can grow cress at home. Don’t worry grown ups- the children remembered to write instructions about where the seeds will grow the best.

As well as writing a writing an information leaflet to teach the year 1 children about how to care for plants, we also started growing beans in a bag. Growing beans in a bag is like creating our own little greenhouse and will allow us to watch the seeds sprout.
