We have been evaluating the reliability of our investigation results and choosing scientific equipment to obtain more precise results.

We used ammeters to test the electrical conductor properties of some materials.

This week we have been planning and carrying out an investigation to test thermal insulators. We discussed how we could ensure we carried out a fair test, and evaluated the limitations of our investigations.

LO: to investigate electrical conductors and insulators.

This week we created an investigation to provide evidence as to which materials held the property of being an electrical conductor or insulator. We then could use this information to discuss which materials might be suitable for different objects depending on the specification and requirements. We also thought about the limitations of our investigations and how could use specific scientific equipment such as an ammeter to improve the reliability of our results.

This week we have been looking at the design specifications for a 3pin UK plug. We investigated the properties of materials needed to fill each requirement, using data from graphs to select the correct materials used.
