    Homework Autumn 2

Welcome to Autumn 2. Please choose an activity or activities from the list below. Each project links to a different subject area and enhances work already covered in class. Please submit your finished piece by Monday 8th December 2025. Completed tasks can either be sent to the class email address or brought into school. Have fun!

    English – Fables

Write a short story that includes characters from two different Aesop's Fables. Weave your characters into a new fable that highlights their differences and similarities. Try to include a new moral or lesson.

    or

Choose one of Aesop’s fables you have read (e.g. The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse, The Tortoise and the Hare). Think about the moral or lesson in the original story. Rewrite the fable in a modern setting (e.g. use modern objects like cars, phones, etc.).

    Make sure your story:

    • Has animal characters
    • Includes a problem and solution.
    • Ends with a clear moral written as one sentence (e.g., “Slow and steady wins the race”).
    • Add a small illustration of your modern fable.

    Art- Collage

Collect various types of textured papers (e.g., tissue, cardboard, fabric swatches, newspapers and magazines) and use them to create a collage inspired by William Morris and his love of floral patterns/nature. Consider how different textures add depth and interest to a piece of artwork.

    DT - Shell Structures

Create dice using a card net (available in school if required). Design, score and make your dice. Fold and tape your nets to make functional dice, ideally 2 of them. Use your dice to help you learn your times tables.

    1. Choose a times table.
    2. Roll both dice.
    3. Multiply the number on the dice by the chosen number.
    4. Challenge family members to play with you.
    5. Take a photo of you playing.

    Science - States of Matter

Linking with our States of Matter topic on solids, liquids and gases, follow a recipe to create a cake, bread or ice-cream. Consider the way the liquid changes to a solid when baked. Is this change reversible? Send a photo of your food product, or record each stage in photos too if you wish.

    French - Seasons

Create a seasonal collage using pictures cut from magazines or printed from the internet. Then label each picture with the correct French season word.
