Autumn 2

We loved meeting Caroline and Andrew from the North West Air Ambulance Service. They taught us about their job and how they help people. We asked some fantastic questions!

The children are showing so much interest in mark marking, writing and reading. It is lovely to see!

Today, an egg arrived in our classroom. We discussed what might be inside! This led us to finding Zog the dragon. Zog had a medical kit and a book with him. We had lots of questions for Zog. Why are you here? Why do you have a medical kit? When did you arrive? How did you get here? What do you eat? What do you drink? We have decided that Zog is going to be our new class pet, we are going to take care of him and look after the egg too!

What an exciting afternoon! We enjoyed a visit from Clitheroe Fire Station today! Firefighter Martin showed us the different equipment and answered our questions. Can the children tell you what they learnt?

Bonfire Night fun! We followed a set of instructions to make edible sparklers, they were delicious. We also created some firework art using different shapes, before thinking about the sounds they make and writing them down. The Year 1 children practised adding the suffix ‘ing' to the end of words. We then wrote Bonfire Night poems using our senses.
